Once there was a dark night. The moon had no light to guide, and the normally dark clouds, which normally hung above a field of lilies, were absent. Small pellets of light dotted the sky above the field, mirroring the array below them.
Grass and flowers swayed beneath the opening eyes of a girl. She looked around her, taking in sights it seemed she had never seen. She examined the grass around her, felt the mound of grass below her palms. She rose to her feet in wonder of the land around her. Walking through the field, roses and daisies, sunflowers and the trees’ leaves appeared to face her, to follow her, something in such contrast.
She moved beyond the field, examining new sights, the bark on trees, the colors along the ground. Soon she passed a pile of stones, and another a few steps later. Her feet kicked a stone, which she held in her hand without thinking. A few others, she took from the base of a tree, cracked from a wall, by the mouth of a small creek, another wet from dew on a dirt path.
She passed crumbled stone and bent wood. Remains of market stalls and houses, left empty by migrations of workers. She looked before her at men huddled sleepily before a still-burning fire to keep warm in the cold night and coming morning. She passed by, stoping near a cottage missing windows in the place of tattered curtains. Inside, she closed her eyes. Looking past the pins-sized holes in the curtains as the sky began to change to an indigo.
—-
The small illumination of the moon fell through her curtains, painting tiny dots on the tapestry. Next to her, she saw a bucket and small trinkets littering the ground. They would seem insignificant as she explored the empty area, picking up small things before bringing them into a pile in the center of the quite village.
But the morning grew closer in the wake of so much work. Soon, her eyes were closed as she looked upon her image in the fallen window of another house in disrepair.
A young face of herself was before her. Brown hair streaked with gold.
Copper rings, nails and stones. Small wooden wheels, and colored stones laid around her. Alone except for herself. As the moon rose above her for another night, she stared for a few moments at the pin-tips of light filled her sight.
—-
She wasn’t cold as she cupped her hands before breathing warmth atop a stone she had forgotten in her hand.
She toyed around a full night, and other nights to come. Some trinkets she left in different piles surrounding her.
On the full moon, she awoke to her now more golden hair covering her eyes. Looking to the side she saw now large piles and other small ones sitting around herself turning aglow. She looked to the full moon, moment later she faced around the town center, the walls she faced had shadows.
From behind her, small birds and critters gazed upon her and her surrounding possessions. They came to be near as day broke once more. The houses, animals, and baubles became her planets as she became a sun, a star in the galaxy, far away from the details of a single planet. Yet she had seen her solar system up close. Her stones now satellites. The critters became various forms among the floating bodies beyond her.
(Soon the cycle begins for another.)
The End.

[image is a drawing of two people both males with long hair nearly identicle, backs to a wall which separates them. One is standing, the other sits on a cargo crate looking out of a window at the night sky. A large crane is in the distance. A dialogue between the two is written.]
+ … I shouldn’t stay around here, I feel like I don’t matter and like I’m going nowhere. No one wants me here.
= That can’t be true.
+ Sure feels like it.
= Hey, I can see the crane from here.
+ So?
= Ya know, I think it’s moved a lot lately; that crane still has a long life ahead of it.
+ Maybe..
= There’s no reason for us to give up, not enough of one.
+ I’m tired
= …
+ Exhausted, scared in a sense.
= It’s okay to rest- you deserve time off.
+ I don’t.
= Yes, it’s okay- All you do is help.
+ It’s nothing. It’s never enough. It can’t be for them. I’ll never be worth enough for me to affect those people.
= … It’s not. That is not your fault.
+ I can’t do it for them-
=You can
(both) ….
(both) That doesn’t mean what I said isn’t true.

If you present them with a new pan they will attack more fiercely, often beating you with your intended peace offering. This is because the cookware does not smell like their own, and probably doesn’t have enough glitter coating the inside.
we had to throw away the cast-iron skillet i loved.. :( it started falling apart after my mom “cleaned” (scraped with steel wool. thus destroying the acquired coating)and there was metal flakes in our food…
