dearcissexism: [Image is a solid black six-pointed star (not a star of david) centered above the black outline of a heart.] gqid: kriegspeil: At some point last week I started thinking about the venus and mars symbols and how they are often used to symbolise gender. and it bothers me that even when it comes to transgressing gender and norms, many symbols are still based on these two, but with added legs and arrows. as if all genders always have to be based on these two “original” ones. why is that? so I thought, why not find another celestial body with a completely different symbol to identify with? I found Eunomia. It’s an asteroid, but a pretty large one, named after the greek deity with the same name. What really made me fall for it, apart from the wonderful symbol, was its description: Eunomia appears to be an elongated but fairly regularly shaped body, with what appear to be four sides of differing curvature and noticeably different average compositions. Its elongation led to the suggestion that Eunomia may be a binary object, but this has been refuted. Elongated, not very curvy or bumpy, and non binary. It felt like me. I’ve tried to google the symbol to make sure it hasn’t already been taken by something like a movement/ideology that conflicts with my own ideas, but I haven’t found anything. so for now, this is how I will picture my gender identity. Interesting! I always love checking out peoples’ symbols for gender identity.
